Demolition of Captain Tom Moore's Spa Building Underway in Marston Moretaine

The demolition of Hannah Ingram-Moore's spa building on the grounds of the family home in Marston Moretaine, Bedfordshire, is currently underway. The building, named after the war veteran Captain Tom Moore, was deemed illegal and had to be torn down after a retrospective application for a larger C-shaped building containing a spa pool was refused by the planning authority. Builders have been working diligently to remove the building, and the demolition is nearing completion. The council issued an enforcement notice in July 2023, requiring the demolition of the unauthorized building, and the Planning Inspectorate dismissed an appeal against this decision. The spa pool had the potential to offer rehabilitation sessions for elderly people in the area. The foundation of the spa is to be closed down following an investigation by the Charity Commission. Captain Tom Moore, who raised £38.9 million for the NHS, was knighted by the late Queen in 2020 for his fundraising efforts.
